Seeing through the Blur: Definition of Jihad

This is what I love about Twitter: When you find tweets that really get you thinking “how the heck did we get here?”. I’ve removed the names of the indiviuals because I don’t know if they want to be mentioned but I am certain that Philosophers Quotes and Al Jazeera English wouldn’t mind.

* * * * *

Hate speech always turns into Hate Crime. You can blame Fox News and every other irresponsible “news” outlet for the rise in #Islamophobia

Bashing Muslims will get you a raise and a promotion, criticizing Israel’s Apartheid and Illegal Occupation will get you blackballed.

@AJEnglish New settlements imperil talks: Palestinians criticise plan to build around 240 new homes in East Jerusalem, a move… http://aje.me/bNzIv6

@philo_quotes A great many people think they are thinking when they are merely rearranging their prejudices. ~ William James

“The revolution is made through human beings, but individuals must forge their revolutionary spirit day by day.” – Comandante #Che Guevara

Fear is the fuel to war, learnt that from Nazis – RT @ The term “jihad” has been completely distorted by the media. It makes me sick.

To distort the image, create fear in peoples’ minds, create false flags to deepen the fears; create that gap, that division, that us vs them

JIHAD=struggle. It’s a struggle against one’s own self,to make the best decisions to do what is righteous. LIFE IS JIHAD. http://is.gd/g43hQ

After 11th September many people are taking the term of Jihad in a very wrong way. Jihad in Islamic tradition is that of an internal spiritual struggle, focused on individual purification and the promotion of social justice and human rights. In some extreme sectors, this concept has been twisted to justify politically motivated acts of violence… Some extremist Muslims exploit the concept of Jihad for their own political objectives… Every religion goes through tough time b/c of its extremist followers.
… “The ink of the scholar is more holy than the blood of the martyr.”
….Terrorism is not Jihad, it is Fasad (mischief). It is against the teaching of Islam. Allah said: “When it is said to them: Make not mischief on the earth, they say why, we only want to correct things, Indeed they are the mischief doers, but they realize (it) not.” (Al Baqarah 2:11-12)

So….Why should I be afraid to use this word?? And why the hell are people so offended by my use of this word in a positive manner???

WHY do Muslims or any1 else have to accept the negative connotation that has been attached to this word,which has a noble concept behind it?

Y do we allow ppl2 hijack this word,2the point where we dont use it anymore?And where will the meaning behind it go if we keep on like this?

#Jihad = The Inner struggle to overcome Lower Desires & strive for higher consciousness = The REAL Holy War!

The brainwashing system is the most power weapon the #US owns – #Hate #Islamophobia #War
