[News] SME Releases Official Statement Regarding Fair Trade Commission Revisions

[ hands up those who laughed when they read the title – SM just won’t give up ]

SM Entertainment has released an official statement regarding the contract revisions demanded by the Fair Trade Commission.

SME officials clarified on the 23rd, “The FTC only ordered us to revise the contract of one of our trainees by removing the three years added onto his contract. We complied, thus making every contract under our agency to date as ‘fair’. BoA, TVXQ, Super Junior, SNSD, SHINee, f(x), The Trax, and other celebrities under our agency have already been acknowledged as fair contracts by the FTC.”

They continued, “As leaders of the industry, we have been cooperating closely with the National Assembly and other related bureaucracies in order to protect the rights and interests of our celebrities, and to aid in the advancement of Korea’s entertainment industry and the Hallyu wave.”

After numerous discussions with the FTC, SME drafted a new contract earlier this year with the changed terms mentioned in the previous article.  All artists re-contracted with the agency under the new terms, which were acknowledged by the FTC to be fair.

The representative continued, “We fully complied with the recent request by the FTC regarding our contract with a trainee.  With the help of the FTC, we will be developing better contracts for the progression of Korean culture and contract customs.”

Regard this as part 3 of TVXQ Comeback; why do I even post about them in a blog that consists mainly of current news of war and fashion sets…? [shrugs… begins to wonder how long she can go by claiming to be a Cassie-in-denial ] Anyway,

– When TVXQ first signed their contract; contract length = 10 years

– When TVXQ hit high popularity; contract length extended to 13 years

– If I am reading that what is advised then that would be 10 – 3 = 7 years. As of tomorrow it will be 7 years so what does that mean for Yunho and Changmin? Technically, they are free.

They are about to release an album so how is that going to work out? Plus, would the contract of 7 years include the extra activities such as Yunho’s theatre play? Wondering if the change of name from HoMin to TVXQ has something to do with all this? HoMin weren’t really producing work throughout the seperation from JYJ – was there something else in the contract? Questions – Questions – Questions… 1 thing for sure; things are getting interesting.

I’m asking these questions under the assumption that the contracts were reviewed properly [ lowers voice – which is light unlikely ]

SM, how long did you think you could continue running and playing games? I’m just glad that finally the main problem is being put into focus – it is, and it always was, about contracts.

I should be every bit happy because this is what I’ve been waiting for – the day when SM meets its own dead end but I’m slightly frustrated for JYJ. I kept saying over and over again that what JYJ were doing, they were doing it for JYJ [ + HoMin ]. Now, JYJ has done it for HoMin… and every artist under SM. Do you realize how much sacrafice these 3 have been through? Are you even aware that if it wasn’t for these 3 that Yunho and Changmin would not have had their demanding contracts eased? Are you aware of the fact that the contract of artists under SM that were supposedly revised back in January were revised because of these 3? Can you even imagine what these 3 have had to go through? Can you imagine how hard it has been for them to just create something for us? I mean they might as well not have bothered since it was all too much and to be honest, we’re not really worth it.

Sure, HoMin suffered too but the side that suffered the most is JYJ – SM was strangling life out of those 3. Who the heck has the guts to even step forward and insult JYJ now? What these guys have achieved is immense.

HoMin – what can I say? It really hasn’t been easy for them either. To be played against their fellow bandmates… bandmates?.. gosh, they were so much more than that! SM certainly couldn’t care less of JYJ, or even HoMin. SM couldn’t care for TVXQ – full stop… so this repetition of “Hallyu Wave” is utter nonsense! Can you imagine what it’s like to be prevented from even talking to each other after all the years that they spent together? Contact has been prevented between the 2 sides – and for what justifiable reason SM?

How can I post this and not think of those who kept stirring up HoMin vs. JYJ ! Those Cassies or “Cassies” [ online antis in disgues ] you… ! grrr – it’s so hard to keep the context clean!

Did you ever stop to think? Did you ever stop to think how much it all meant? Did you ever stop to think why it might have meant so much? Did you ever stop to think that they went through so much… for us? Did you?

It wasn’t possible for me to delete it all. Maybe it was for you. One thing for sure, it was not possible for them.

To delete all feelings = To delete all memories .

… you really think they can?

The good times, the bad times, the hilarious times, the tough times… they shared it together. That’s why it doesn’t matter who SM gives the title TVXQ to because TVXQ has so much more of a meaning than SM would ever understand. TVXQ has a meaning more to these 5 guys than it does to anyone else, including the fans. They never let you see them down because they didn’t want you to feel down. They kept going as long as they could just for you.

The hard work, the passion, the dedication..

Are we really worth it? Are worth all the suffering?

Thank you for this post! I cried a lot reading it; I’ve only been a fan of TVXQ for about 2 years but for me it’s almost like I known then from the beginning, and this makes me sad…They are all younger than me, and I see them as my little brothers suffering for something they believe in. The industry gave us TVXQ but almost destroyed them; Makes me wonder sometimes if this is really worth it. I hope they can be here for a long, long time…
