Having worked with Roland Mouret one was to expect nothing but fabulous constructed tailoring from the Canadian fashion designer. Jean-Pierre delivered a powerful collection on Day 1 of London Fashion Week with strong tailoring, interesting cuts and clever mix of textures here and there.
The colour palette was a little dry when sticking to the black and white and whatever in-between but the addition of red which was seen in wave-like prints in tops and dresses, made the collection livelier, but none made a greater statement as the vibrant red coat.
Coats and blazers were key in this collection; ranging from strong structured to oversized cocoon shaped. Frequent use of leather panels, leather gloves, ankle boots and over-knee boots this collection was about authority and control; Sleek neat high ponytail, intense red lips with red eye makeup taken beyond and right through the face creating an aggressive look.
This collection showed range and options but it didn’t have the consistency to make the bigger impact that it potentially could have delivered. However, having said that, some pieces are an unquestionable must-have.
